Conker: A future proofed new brand identity

Objectives

  • Design and define a brilliant brand that appeals to students and landlords.
  • Define key messaging and campaign assets for key lettings periods to generate brand awareness.
  • Create a point of difference from traditional letting agents to cut through a crowded market.
  • Increase their portfolio of landlords/properties to let and the number of registered students through brand strength and recognition.

The challenge

Unite Students, the UK’s largest manager and developer of purpose-built student accommodation, approached us to develop a brand identity to launch their new venture. Conker is a digital platform that allows landlords to share, show, let and manage accommodation to UK university students.

Whilst Unite Students holds significant brand awareness across the UK, Conker was a young brand that required definition in order to appeal to both students and landlords.

What we did

We developed a new brand identity with a distinctive and playful mark matched with a bright, impactful colour palette. The extensive and flexible visual language could be used in countless ways across their digital and traditional platforms. It also future proofed the brand providing great opportunities to communicate to the landlord and student audiences in engaging ways.

The brand treatment also lent itself to a library of eye-catching vector illustrations to accompany their warm and personable tone of voice. Launching in a handful of key university cities, we introduced a suite of city specific landmarks, used to tailor brand communications within each city.

The brand was rolled out across key touch points including integrated campaigns to drive demand and deliver leads.
